Capture
Pick 15 seconds to 15 minutes (30 seconds by default). Unsaved encoded gameplay stays in RAM. Saving creates a clip in your cloud vault; it is not an always-on recording file.
Keep
H.264 is the default. HEVC and AV1 appear only when the hardware and browser can encode them, and CPU encoding is opt-in. Files over 1,000,000,000 bytes stay on your PC and are never uploaded.
Share
Sharing is opt-in. Public playback uses a validated H.264/AAC copy for current mainstream browsers. The original stays downloadable, and older browsers can use the Windows app.
FAQ
Capture length, quality choices, the vault size limit and how playback works — without promising more than the app and browsers actually do.
You can keep 15 seconds to 15 minutes of gameplay in memory. The default is 30 seconds, and the hotkey saves whatever duration you selected.
Choose Storage saver, Balanced or High quality. H.264 is the default. HEVC and AV1 are offered only when the selected hardware and browser can actually encode them, and CPU/software encoding is a clearly labelled opt-in. Size estimates are approximate; the measured final file decides.
Files up to exactly 1,000,000,000 bytes can enter the vault. Anything larger stays on your PC: it is never uploaded, and it does not appear on the website or in the dashboard. A smaller explicit export can be uploaded later.
No universal-browser guarantee is made. Public playback uses a validated H.264/AAC copy, which is the broad current-mainstream target. The original HEVC or AV1 file stays available to download. Older or unusual browsers may need the download or the Windows app.
The browser editor runs on your device when the browser can decode the original and encode the codec you choose. It never renders on the server. If your browser cannot do that, use the GGVault Windows app or download the original.
No. Originals are preserved. Trimming, reframing and overlays create a new export, and the original stays available to download.
